Yehuda Altmann's photographs depict places without people. The patina of history lies tangibly on the unmistakable photographic surface of the pictures. The rooms and furniture indicate the presence of people and events - yet a veil of uncertainty covers everything. Yehuda Altmann's photographs reject the grand, visual spectacle of our world, guiding the viewer's attention back to the essentials.

"I photograph places of historic significance. I seek out the point of convergence between the visual and the descriptive in terms of knowledge and information. I highlight the visual communication between the historical presentation, which gives the subject its importance, and the spatial presentation, which gives it its identity."
Altmann's works at the "VIEWSINTERIORS" exhibition explore the specific spatial situation of the wood-panelled GALLERY rooms, enhancing the consciousness of the inherent sensual perception of image and space.
