New OSRAM automotive lamp provides 90 percent more light on the road
Night breaker turns night into day
The Night Breaker headlight lamp from OSRAM will be setting new standards in safety when it is launched on the market in October 2007. Its innovative design helps it provide up to 90 percent more light on the road. The lamp throws much more light on the road ahead and also improves visibility at the edges of the road.
OSRAM Night Breaker enables drivers to see pedestrians and cyclists much earlier. It is not only the luminous efficacy that has been optimized. The light itself is up to 10 percent whiter, which is much easier on the eyes and therefore reduces driver fatigue, especially on unit roads. And all without dazzling oncoming traffic - a clear plus for road safety.
OSRAM Night Breaker can be fitted in all makes of automobile. All current lamp models from H1 to H11 can be replaced with this new lamp. The headlight lamp is compatible with all current lighting systems for automobiles (with the exception of xenon), offering benefits to both safety-conscious drivers and design-conscious drivers. A special silver coating at the tip of the lamp and blue strips on the base ensure that the light is glare-free with optimum forward vision, even in poor weather. Night Breaker not only brightens up the darkest night, it also cuts through rain, snow and fog.
Night-time driving and poor visibility are the main causes of accidents on the road
Even a cursory glance at accident statistics reveals that the night-time is a critical time on the roads. Despite a much reduced volume of traffic on the road there is a relatively high number of accidents at night. According to the Federal Statistics Office, the number of people killed on the road at night in Germany in 2005 was almost 2000, with more than 20,000 seriously injured. Most of the accidents are caused by poor visibility and reduced reaction times. Among the almost 100,000 people involved in night-time road accidents there were many drivers who, despite no other vehicles around, got into difficulties because their view of the road ahead was less than adequate. By providing up to 90 percent more light on the road, Night Breaker makes a positive contribution to road safety. By fitting this new lamp, each and every driver can improve their own safety and the safety of other road users, and also make night-time journeys more pleasant.
OSRAM Night Breaker is also interesting from the design point of view. The penetrating white light makes the vehicle stand out from the crowd.
Check your automobile lights every fall
OSRAM Night Breaker is available in leading retail outlets and in many automobile workshops. Consumers should check their vehicle instruction manuals to identify the right lamp type and to find out how to replace the lamps. OSRAM recommends checking all the lighting systems at the start of the lighting season in the fall.
