Osram optimises its electronic transformers:
Clever little mice
There’s always room for improvement. Even something that’s good can be improved, and Osram has proved this with its new electronic Halotronic Mouse HTM 70 and HTM 105 transformers.
Additional features open up new applications and make it easier for electricians to install the transformers, without compromising in any way on the small dimensions and application-related design that have made these units so successful.
Three terminal pairs - one primary and two secondary - are provided so that one or two luminaires can be connected directly to the new Mouse transformers. Osram has also improved the cable clamp so that now cables with different cross-sections can be held firmly in place. This means that in addition to NYM cables, round cables with a diameter of 5.5 to 10 mm and oval cables from 5 x 3.5 mm to 8 x 5 mm can now be clamped. Osram will continue to use the tried and tested screw fixing for strain relief.
A further improvement is that the fixing screws on the HTM 70 and HTM 105 transformers are now held captive in the strain relief cap. This makes it much easier to handle the units during installation as the screws can no longer fall out.
The rounded shape of the casing and the small dimensions of the two transformers are unchanged from their predecessors. For openings of 68 mm and 55 mm, they need a mounting depth of just 48 mm and 60 mm respectively.
The transformers can be dimmed with either trailing-edge or leading-edge phase dimmers for inductive loads.
