QT-ECO replaces conventional control gear (CCG):
Time for a change
Osram offers a future-proof alternative to CCGs with its Quicktronic Economic series. This one and two-lamp electronic control gear (ECGs) are available in two typical CCG geometries so only slight design adjustments have to be made to the luminaire.
Replacing old CCGs is well worth while because benefits such as improvements in energy consumption by up to 30%, much longer lamp life and more comfortable light soon offset the investment costs.
CCGs in energy efficiency class D were banned from sale in the European Union in May 2002. From November 21, 2005 the same will apply to units in energy efficiency class C.
With eleven ECGs models in the Quicktronic Economic family, Osram will make the changeover to electronic control gear as easy as possible. They come in two casing sizes typical of CCGs and cover a wide range of wattages. Most of the units are of multi-watt design. There are 4-16 W, 18-24 W, 18-21 W, 26 W, 36 W and 58 W units in single-lamp versions and 2x 5-11 W, 2x18 W and 2x26 W in two-lamp versions. In total, 33 different tubular and circular fluorescent and compact fluorescent lamps can be operated with these ECGs. The QT-ECO 1x4-16/220-240, for example, can operate 15 different lamp types.
All the ECG units offer protective preheat starting and provide constant flicker-free light with no stroboscopic effects. ECG operation improves the efficiency of the lamp, prolongs the life of the lamp and therefore reduces maintenance costs. Critical operating conditions are detected immediately. Lamps are safely shut down if they develop faults or when they come to the end of their lives. A hold function prevents annoying start-up attempts from being made. This prevents thermal overloads and enhances the safety and reliability of the lighting system.
